As part of our ongoing commitment to improve public safety in the communities we serve, we’re delighted to have provided Stoke Fit Running Club with a portable AED defibrillator.
Stoke Fit are a popular running club operating from Baddeley Green Working Men’s Club in Stoke-on-Trent, where several of our staff are active participants. We were thrilled to be able to support them with the provision of a life-saving, portable defibrillator that will offer immediate medical assistance in the event that one of their members experiences a sudden cardiac arrest while running.
This new AED unit marks the thirteenth unit we’ve installed as part of our defibrillator programme to enhance safety across the region. Ensuring the safety of our community members, particularly in active environments like the running club, is a key focus for us. Sudden cardiac arrests can happen without warning, and having a defibrillator on hand significantly increases the chances of survival.
Our defibrillator programme aims to make these life-saving devices accessible across Staffordshire, Cheshire, Derbyshire and Shropshire, to help achieve a safer environment for everyone.
Louise Gibbs, an employee at our Society and a volunteer qualified run leader of Stoke Fit Running Club, shared her thoughts on this significant contribution:
“It’s fantastic to see the Society supporting such a key health and fitness club in the community. There have been a few tragic incidents in the local running community and this defibrillator will be a comfort to our members and their families to know that we have the equipment that could potentially save a life.
“AEDdonate were also on hand to deliver basic CPR training to a number of our running leaders, which has given us confidence that, if required, we’re now equipped to save a life.”
