To enhance the safety of a vital transport service, we’re pleased to have helped Ashbourne Community Transport by placing defibrillators onboard three of their buses.
Ashbourne Community Transport offers vital transportation services covering the Derbyshire Dales, High Peak and South Derbyshire regions, and are often called out to rural areas where there are no longer any transport links available. With many local residents relying on these buses for access to essential services, healthcare, and social events, the added presence of defibrillators ensures greater protection and peace of mind. The AEDdonate defibrillators are essential in providing immediate aid in the case of cardiac emergencies.
Simon Meredith from Ashbourne Community Transport, expressed their gratitude for the support:
“We’re incredibly grateful to Leek Building Society for funding these defibrillators on our three buses. As a community-focused transport service, the wellbeing of our passengers is always our top priority. With a large quantity of our customers being of the older generation living in rural areas where life-saving equipment isn’t readily available, it really puts it into perspective the value these devices could bring in the event of an emergency. Thank you to AEDdonate for offering training to our drivers, so they’re prepared should a sudden cardiac arrest happen.”
The installation was celebrated at Leek Building Society’s Head Office, where two of Ashbourne Community Transport’s buses were proudly displayed, showcasing the partnership between the organisations.
Speaking about the initiative on the day was our Senior Marketing Executive, Megan Arnold, who said:
“After hearing about Ashbourne Community Transport and the crucial role they play in providing transportation to those placed in rural areas, we were delighted to support them in making their services even safer for their passengers.”
The placement of these defibrillators is part of our wider defibrillator programme, where 100 AED devices are being installed across Staffordshire, Cheshire, Derbyshire and Shropshire over a four-year period. Visit our latest defibrillator installation page to find out more about the programme.
